SHSG July 2023: Walking with Allies and Ancestors

OK everyone, lets try this again! Because we had to cancel our walk in conjunction with our friends at the Onondaga Nation last month, we are now holding that walk this month! We will focus time on plant identification strategies, sustainable use, preparation and medicinal properties of the plant allies we see around us while holding space for land and its inhabitants. We are honored to be continuing our partnership with the Onondaga Nation and acknowledge the ancestral land on which we will be treading. The address listed above will bring you to a community meeting space and we will be walking in the woods behind the house. I strongly advise you follow the directions below, since map apps seem to have a tough time getting it right.

Please park in designated areas and there will be a sign up that says "Plant Walk" by the road. As always, walks are free, open to the public and you do not need to RSVP. Be sure to wear close toed shoes and long pants are recommended as the tick situation continues to worsen. Bring a notebook, guidebooks, and of course your experience! To get to the walk from the Syracuse area: take 81S to exit 16 and then take a right. Then take your first left and drive about 3 miles and you will see the house and sign.
