SHSG June 2023: The Annual Woods Walk

I am so excited to welcome everyone to our fifth consecutive year of plant walks here at Syracuse Herbal Study Group! As usual, our first walk of the season is in the woods, since late Spring/early Summer is the best time to spend time with our native and often endangered woodland species. We will focus time on plant identification strategies, sustainable use, preparation and medicinal properties.

While we had originally planned to hold our walk this year in partnership with the Onondaga Nation, due to a death in the community we will be walking at Beaver Lake this year! Always a favorite, Beaver Lake offers a great opportunity to encounter a wide range of forest and wetland species As always, walks are free, open to the public and you do not need to RSVP, but do be aware there is a $5 charge per car when you exit the park. Be sure to wear close toed shoes and long pants are recommended as the tick situation continues to worsen. Bring a notebook, guidebooks, and of course your experience!
